Triathlon Magazine documents Patrick Lange’s victory at the 2018 IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, where the German successfully defended his world title while racing in Fusion performance apparel.

Lange crossed the finish line in 7:52:39, becoming the first athlete to break the eight-hour barrier at the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona. The performance improved his own previous course record by more than nine minutes and secured his second consecutive world championship title.

Lange’s victory is also an important part of Fusion’s performance history. His back-to-back IRONMAN World Championship victories in 2017 and 2018 were achieved while racing in Fusion trisuits, providing early documentation of Fusion apparel being used at the highest level of long-distance triathlon.

Viewed alongside Fusion’s more recent collaborations with athletes including Sam Laidlow, Magnus Ditlev, Casper Stornes and Daniel Bækkegård, the result demonstrates that Fusion’s involvement in elite triathlon performance extends across multiple generations of the sport.
