Anne Holm has been part of the sport for over 10 years, even though she hasn’t yet turned 23 at the time of writing. Like her brother Emil, she has been one of the leading draft athletes up through the youth age groups, and today both are headed for the 2024 Paris Olympics!
As well as being an extremely skilled swimmer with the bike handling skills of a circus artist, Anne is not an athlete who blends in with a crowd. Especially in the south, it turns heads to see the 180-cm-tall Zealander line up for the dive from the starting pontoon.
After a collision while training and uncertainty due to the Covid situation, Anne chose to go back to school for a period of time.
However, her base for daily training continues to be Stevns – an unconventional alternative to the power centres in Aarhus, Odense and Copenhagen – with a tough but fair coach (and father) in Lars Ole Holm.
Anne is a part of the national Olympic team and will therefore focus on draft races in 2022, including the Olympic distance, sprint and mixed relay. In addition to national team assignments within the ETU and WTCS, Anne will focus primarily on two of Europe's toughest triathlon leagues – the French Grand Prix and the German 1st Bundesliga.
- Anne ran her first triathlon at age 11 and was so focused on winning that she used her elbows to try to prevent an overtaking even though the person behind her was on the way to the finish line while she still had a full lap to go.
- Anne considers herself a “Directioner”, i.e. a die-hard fan of the boyband One Direction, and knows all their songs by heart.
- Anne loves cooking and has a special preference for vegetarian dishes. When she was unable to train for a while following a crash, she even had her own food blog,_annesfoodblog,_which can still be found on Instagram.
