Anne-Marie Rindom comes from a family of sailors and, at just 31 years old, has already sailed for a quarter of a century – first in the Europe Dinghy and then in the Laser Radial boat class.

Many hours of training and many years on the water are alpha and omega for success in sailing, and so it’s not so strange that this strong Horsens sailor belongs to the absolute world elite.

Anne-Marie Rindom became a regular national hero in Denmark after one of the most dramatic Olympic Finals ever with Danish participation. Throughout the week, Anne-Marie had been cruising closer and closer to the gold medal, but two controversial calls by referees destroyed the Danish super-sailor's giant lead. Everyone in the Danish camp was in shock, and not even the TV experts understood what was going on. In other words, it looked like a “typical” Danish meltdown, where the big nations run away with gold at the end of the day. But in the last and decisive event, Anne-Marie demonstrated why she was named the world's best across all boat types. When the pressure was greatest and the gold medal literally balanced on a knife edge, she very professionally packed away the panic, rebooted, and prepared for the decisive final competition.

With a rare coolness, Anne-Marie picked up the necessary points and thereby secured Denmark's first gold medal at the games in Tokyo.
