Biography

27-year-old Casper Stornes put Norway (and especially his hometown Bergen) on the world map when he won WTS Bermuda in April 2018 at just 21 years old. A clean podium sweep for Norway/Bergen with Blummenfelt and Gustav in the next spots. Later that year, Casper debuted in non-draft racing (70.3 Bahrain, 3rd place), which ignited the "The Norwegian Hype Train" in earnest. Another clean Norwegian podium, all under the phenomenon Michael Raelert's 9-year-old record time (3:34:04). Since then, Casper has primarily focused on draft-legal triathlon, supplemented by a series of convincing 70.3 victories. Stornes is the definition of a "complete" triathlete, strong in all three disciplines, and will be extremely exciting to follow after the Olympics, where he is expected to dedicate himself wholeheartedly to longer distances. In fact, he has already shown glimpses of his potential at Ironman Frankfurt 2021. There, he delivered strong performances in the first two disciplines and started the marathon in 2nd position before an injury later forced him to withdraw.

Casper Stornes finished the 2023 season by winning Ironman 70.3 Indian Wells, thus qualifying for the 70.3 World Championship in New Zealand, December 2024. Already in 2018, Casper demonstrated his immense potential with the famous “Norwegian podium sweep,” where “Blu,” Iden, and Stornes all broke the previous world record for the distance. The first half of the season is 100% dedicated to the Olympics in Paris, where Stornes is aiming for a medal in the Mixed Relay and hopefully a top individual placement (Casper finished 11th in the Tokyo 2021 Olympics).
