Biography

Kristian Hindkjaer is the proof that you can go far without having practiced endurance sports your entire life. Until his early 20s, he was a long-haired bass player in a heavy metal band until sports science studies in Aarhus and his friendship with Kristian Høgenhaug put triathlon on his radar. The desire to train longer and more methodically than most quickly yielded results, and after just 2 years in the sport, Kristian qualified for Ironman Hawaii, where he finished 2nd in the 18–24 age group.

Since 2017 Kristian has had a PRO license and was especially dominant in the medium-distance initially, with Danish Championship Silver in 2018 as his best result. Impressively, Kristian has managed to move from a skilled age-grouper to a “front pack” swimmer in the PRO field with an 8:07:54 PB in the Ironman distance.

Fun fact

If you're familiar with the TV Zulu series “Sjit happens”, you can spot a long-haired Hindkjaer in a cameo with his heavy metal band in the first season from 2012. :-)
