INTRODUCING
MAS Technology

Shaped for the changing ways air meets a rider’s body, MAS Technology is designed to reduce drag as speed, position and airflow direction change.

Built on patented low-drag garment technology, its three-dimensional  structures are crafted directly into the fabric, making the aerodynamic surface part of the textile itself.

MAS Technology is built on patented garment technology: EP 3 085 258 / EP 3 085 259.

MAS Technology Suits are EU IPO protected.

Multidirectional Aero Shape Technology

MAS Technology is not one fabric or one pattern. It is the system behind how FUSION engineers three-dimensional surface structures and varying roughness for different aerodynamic demands.

The shape is only part of the idea. Where and how the surface is used matters too.

How it works

Air meets the body at different speeds and angles as the rider moves and the wind changes. MAS structures are designed to generate tiny vortices that help airflow stay attached to the surface for longer, reducing separation and drag.

Applied zonally, the structures are matched to the aerodynamic demands of specific parts of the body.

Why move beyond parallel ribs?

Ribbed fabrics have long been a standard in aerodynamic sportswear. Their raised, parallel ribs can work extremely well when they meet the airflow at the right angle. But a rider rarely stays at one angle to the wind.

MAS Technology challenges that one-direction logic. Instead of parallel ribs, its multidirectional aero shapes present raised surfaces at opposing angles to the airflow. The aim is to make the aerodynamic effect less dependent on one specific direction of flow.

DATA APPENDIX
Tested against our best

We did not benchmark MAS Technology against a basic fabric. We tested it head-to-head against a 7 mm parallel-ribbed fabric that had been one of our best-performing aerodynamic solutions.

In repeated speed testing, the average result favoured MAS at every measured speed from 36 to 58 km/h.

Tested and validated with professional athletes.

From early spring, successive prototypes were tested repeatedly with our professional athletes. Back-to-back comparisons, speed sweeps and complete-garment testing gave us new data for each development round, helping us refine the varying surface structures, their zonal application and how they work with the garment as a whole.

Built on patented technology

MAS Tech. builds on patented low-drag garment technology* originally developed by aerodynamicist Simon Smart, Founder of Drag2Zero. The principle is to use engineered surface textures to manage airflow around the body.

We have developed those principles further, creating multidirectional structures that can be woven directly into the textile.

Years in the making

Turning that concept into fabrics has taken several years of development. We worked across our supply chain to find a European manufacturer capable of weaving the three-dimensional structures directly into the textile, while testing and refining the technology in our TEMPO! Wind Tunnel in Denmark.
