From jogger to AG winner and the World championships in Hawaii.
I started my triathlon journey in 2014 with a mini-triathlon, got caught up in it, and went in for a half triathlon the next year. That proved to be the way out of anxiety and depression that had overshadowed my younger years.
Triathlon occupied me more and more – I started with a coach, and in 2018 I did my first Ironman in Copenhagen, won in my age group, and ran in the World championships in Hawaii eight weeks later.
In 2019 my A-race was the Lanzarote Ironman, where I won in my age group and came 3rd overall (AG). I made the fastest cycle time of all AGs.
I turned down Hawaii, as unfortunately I did not have the reserves mentally or financially.
But I am dreaming of going back in 2020.
I also won in my AG and overall in Aalborg on 30 June, where I was in the start line-up for a quarter Ironman, which I have competed in for the last four years. The first time I came in thirteenth, then 3rd the next year, 2nd last year, and then this year I picked up a first place.
My time for the 2018 Copenhagen Ironman was 10:09 (AG first) and I did the 2019 Lanzarote Ironman in 11:06 (1st in the AG, 3rd overall, fastest cycle time).
