Biography

At age 25, Emil Holm is the most experienced among the Danish short-distance triathletes who aspire to take part in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Contrary to other national teammates his age, Emil has chosen to keep a training base far from the city and the country’s most established elite team.

At Stevns, Emil and his sister Anne have their daily routines, while “pappa” @holm_coaching keeps the volume and intensity at just the right level.

Emil and Anne have biked and run with their father and coach Lars Ole Holm for as long as they can remember. The switch to triathlon was a natural transition in the lifestyle the family was already living.

For Emil, the culmination of 10 years in the sport came in 2021 when he achieved the first top 10 of his career thus far in the terribly competitive WTC series in Hamburg. In addition to his success in triathlon, Emil has established himself as one of the country’s fastest medium-distance runners. For example, he was a hair away from winning the Danish Championship 10 km bronze in 2019 in a direct duel with Abdi Ulad.

Goal

Paris 2024, that's the essence of it. All eggs are in the basket for individual qualification, as well as for the Danish Mixed Relay team, where Emil, despite his young age, is the most experienced member of the squad.

Fun fact

Early on, Emil was encouraged to become either a stuntman or a professional sportsman, with a very special passion for testing the law of gravity and beating himself up. Emil remembers how he hacked the foot brake on his brand-new mountain bike and later rode over a jump without holding the handlebars, as Zealand’s equivalent to Evel Knievel. Some good has come out of the unruliness, however, because as he put it: “I had so many cuts and bruises as a child that I no longer fear crashing on the bike”.
