Biography

Oliver Martinussen is the new kid on the block in the most talented generation of Danish PRO triathletes ever. At age-group level, the soon to be 24-year-old physiotherapy student has won European Championships and World Championships in duathlon and won 70.3 races in Denmark and elsewhere.

In 2021 he took the first steps towards a career at PRO level with a couple of solid top 10 performances and with good racing experience from international competitions.

Oliver’s daily training base is in Odense and he is standard-bearer for a new generation of triathletes from the prestigious Odense Triathlon Club (OTK), which in recent years has stood in the shadow of the tremendous mass of talent in its backyard – Tri Team SDU. Contrary to Baekkegaard and the established Odense elite, Oliver does not have a background in swimming.

However, the ace up his sleeve is that he is one of the greatest running talents we have seen in many years in Danish triathlon.

Fun fact

From elite boxer to professional triathlete.
Oliver has been active since childhood and, due to his small stature at the time and contagious personality, was made club mascot in the local boxing club in Kolding, where he grew up. At 18, when Oliver hung up his boxing gloves in favour of duathlon and triathlon, his extreme physical fitness turned heads, particularly because of his absolutely outstanding running ability.
