How Should Cycling Shorts Fit?
Cycling shorts should fit snugly to the body – almost like a second skin. This ensures the chamois sits correctly and minimizes friction and chafing. They must not be so tight as to feel uncomfortable, but not so loose that they fold.
Checklist:
- They should fit close without restricting movement.
- The chamois must cover the contact areas with the saddle.
- Loose fabric or folds can cause chafing.
- They should support without digging in.
How to Prevent Saddle Sores?
The most important factors are correct fit, a good chamois, and hygiene. Never wear underwear under bib shorts, wash them after every ride, and consider chamois cream on hot days or very long rides.
What to Wear Under Cycling Shorts?
You should not wear normal underwear under cycling shorts. They are designed with an integrated chamois that sits directly against the skin for support and reduced friction. Wearing underwear creates folds that cause chafing and discomfort. Cycling shorts are always worn directly on the skin.
“Bib” refers to cycling shorts with straps. Bibs provide extra comfort because they hold the shorts and chamois in place without tightening around the waist.
What Does Compression in mmHg Mean – and How Does It Help?
Compression in cycling shorts refers to how firmly the fabric “hugs” the muscles. It’s often measured in mmHg (millimeters of mercury) – the same unit used for blood pressure. In FUSION’s top models the level is around 10–12 mmHg, considered optimal in sports textiles: strong enough for real effect, without restricting blood flow.
Three key performance benefits of controlled compression:
- Muscle support under load – reduces vibration, delays fatigue, and transfers more energy into forward motion.
- Improved circulation – assists blood return, delivers oxygen/nutrients faster, removes lactate more efficiently.
- Faster recovery – increased blood flow continues after training, leaving legs fresher for the next ride.
At FUSION, compression is not just “tight shorts.” It’s carefully calibrated through choice of fabrics, weave direction, and panel placement – pressure is highest where it benefits most (quadriceps and hamstrings), while high elasticity across ensures flexibility even as the fabric actively supports your muscles.
Can the Same Bib Shorts Be Used for Road, Gravel, and MTB?
Yes. FUSION bib shorts are versatile and developed for long road rides, uneven gravel, and technical MTB. The snug fit and stable chamois ensure performance across disciplines.
What Is the Difference Between TEMPO! Pro and TEMPO! Bib Shorts?
TEMPO! Pro is race-fit, wind-tunnel tested for aerodynamics, with stronger compression – ideal for competition and chasing watts. TEMPO! Bib Shorts are more versatile but still technical, with a race-inspired fit.
How Should I Wash My Products?
Extend product life by washing less and with care. Air clothes after use and wash only when necessary – ideally immediately after use, short program, low temperature. Use color-specific detergent, avoid softener and tumble dryer (except occasional low heat for S2 products). Close zippers, protect against Velcro and abrasion, and always choose the right size.
Use the clothing for what it’s designed for, and put it on with care. Small damages can often be repaired, spare parts available. Reduce microplastic release by washing at low temperature, using liquid detergent, and optionally a filter or washing bag.
Yes, you can exchange your purchase for a different size or color as long as it’s the same product. It’s important to register your return in our return portal before sending the product, so we know how you want to exchange. If you want to exchange for the (X-Long) variant with extra leg length, this is also possible – but you must contact us at support@fusion.dk as this variant cannot be selected in the return portal. We can handle it manually. More on returns and exchanges here: https://fusionworld.com/pages/return-excange
